Terrazzo is a material consisting of aggregate chips of broken marble, granite, quatrz, glass, pigment, or other material combined with a binding agent. The chips are graded by their ability to pass through various screen sizes with the smallest #0 chip passing through an 1/8" screen and the largest #8 passing through a 1 1/8" screen. Terrazzo can be poured on site or made into blocks and cut and finished like stone. Binding agents are typically cement or polymer resin based. Traditionally used as flooring, terrazzo can also be turned into countertops, stairs, and tile.
