Stain resistance is specified in ASTM C1378 and is represented as a grading table. A stain completely removed with hot water is Class 5, a weak cleaner is Class 4, strong cleaner is Class 3, a solvent is Class 2 and stain not removed is Class 1. Most glazed tiles easily pass this test but unglazed tiles are of more concern.
